Alamiyan’s team wins China Junior Open

CHENGDU, China - Iran’s table tennis player Noshad Alamiyan claimed the championship of the Junior Boys’ Team along with Egypt’s Omar and Khalid Assar at the China Junior Open in Chengdu on Thursday. At the semi-final stage the joint Iran/Egypt Team won a thrilling three matches to two contests against Korea before overcoming China B in the final. They beat China B by three matches to one in a high class duel, a credit to both teams. Mainstay of the victory against Korea was Noshad Alamiyan whilst against China that mantle fell on the shoulders of Omar Assar.
Smiling FacesBoth contests were tense affairs and the joy on the faces of the victors was a sight to behold, having recorded hard fought victories against two countries steeped in table tennis excellence, according to ITTF. The splendid Noshad Alamiyan maintained an unbeaten record throughout proceedings and against Korea he paved the way for victory.
First and Last
Playing first and last, he defeated Shin In Cheol to open proceedings and Ham So Ri to conclude matters with Omar Assar beating Shin In Cheol in the vital fourth match of proceedings; the stage at which the Koreans were leading by two matches to one. The Korean wins followed the initial victory recorded by Noshad Alamiyan with Ham So Ri defeating Omar Assar and Kim Ji Hwan defeating Khalid Assar.
Counterpart Semi-Final
Meanwhile, in the counterpart semi-final, China B defeated China A by three matches to one. Zhang Yuntao and Lai Jiaxin both overcame Liang Yonghui with Ding Hongce defeating Wang Junchun. The one win for China A came from Liu Yongshuan; in the second match of the proceedings he defeated Li Jiaxin.
Score Line Reversed
A three-one success for China B but in the final it was a three-one defeat. Omar Assar beat both Ding Hongce and Lai Jiaxin; whilst Noshad Alamiyan on his one visit to the table also overcame Lai Jiaxin. The one win for the defeated came from Zhang Juntao; he accounted for Khalid Assar in the third match of proceedings.
Korea Rules
Success for the joint Egypt/Iran team in the Junior Boys’ Team event; whilst in the Cadet Boys’ Team competition, Korea ruled with both their teams enjoying semi-final joy. Korea B (Cho Jae Jun, Lee Seong Yeop, Park Sang Min) beat the China B team (Qi Zhili, Li Tingrui and Chen Huaiyu) by three matches to one whilst in the counterpart semi-final, Korea A (Kim Min joo, Kim Hyeon Soo, Park Chan Hyeok) overcame China A (Su Zhizhong, Yu Shibo, Wang Jing) by three matches to nil.
